It was nice to see many of you at the Grade 3 to 6 Primary swimming carnival last week. The house swimming trophy will be presented at chapel in week 6.
We have two important social events: Prep ‘Connect Afternoon’ (28 February), an afternoon tea and short information session for Prep families, and Grandparents Day on 8 March. We also have Open Day, this Saturday. With a waitlist in most Primary year levels, if you have friends or family keen to come to Flinders, encourage them to come along!
Thank you for your patience with the Primary Basketball covers. The footings have been done, and the remaining construction will be completed during the Easter holidays. When done, it will look like this:
Should you have any questions, please contact our Primary admin team (Marianne Morgan and Suzanne Lokot) on 9785 0000.

Secondary School
Blasting Off
Term 1 in a school year is always known as “hitting the ground running,” and it is no different this year for all our amazing students and staff. What a great start to the year it has been with so much happening in the school over the first 4 weeks.
The Year 7 parent meet-and-greet was a great way to ensure our new parents and existing parents had a chance to have an informal catch-up with each other and their child’s Mentor Teacher, Head of House, or Leadership Representative.
Year 12 parents came to school for an important formal information evening, showing our Year 12s that they are not alone in this crucial year, and that we are all here to support them.
Year 12’s then had an incredible camp at the Oasis in Lilydale. They participated in activities that took them back to Year 7 times, dressed up each night representing the first letter of their name and then a famous music artist. They braved the big storm, lost power, and yet we still managed to have one of the best karaoke sessions our school has ever seen. Finally, they bonded over a personal development session hosted by Eric Agyemon, a powerful youth mentor, and speaker.
The PE department hosted a stellar cross-campus swimming carnival, with the winner of Carrum Downs being Nicholls.
Finally, our Executive Principal, Cameron Pearce, and our Principal, Andrew Watts, hosted our annual Dedication Ceremony Assembly, which acknowledges our school Captains with special Blazers and prays over our school community for the year to come.
I would like to congratulate our College Captains, Vice Captains, House Captains, and Portfolio Captains for their positions of leadership. Miss Cosgrave and I look forward to working with them to guide the direction of the school this year.
Prayer I pray this year is one of embracing expectations for all of our students. I pray that each family and be blessed and that we all work together to see our students fully grow into the person God plans them to be.
Regards
Matthew Bodley Head of Secondary

Over the summer holidays, Eliza collected cans and bottles to recycle in the 10c recycling program, raising an impressive $104.50. If you'd like to contribute, there's a purple container in the entrance hallway of the music building where you can drop off any cans and bottles.
Thank you, Eliza, for your outstanding efforts and commitment to our music program!
