The Flinders Laptop program continues to evolve to ensure that every student has access to a reliable, school-approved device that is fully integrated to optimise their learning experience.
Depending on the student year of commencement, students will participate in one of two laptop programs. Please read the appropriate section below relevant for your child.
For all secondary students commencing at Flinders during or before 2025, Flinders maintains a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. Families are asked to equip their Secondary aged children with an appropriate laptop computer. The BYOD Device Guidelines document available below, outlines specifications to guide you in selecting an appropriate laptop.
To further assist families, Flinders has engaged Edunet to provide a service where suitable devices may be purchased online. All laptops listed on the site have been pre-selected and approved by Flinders staff as suitable for the BYOD program. Please carefully read the BYOD Device Guidelines document below for more details, together with the information on the Edunet Purchasing Portal.
From 2026, all families of Year 7 students (only) will be asked to purchase a specific Windows-based laptop model from our dedicated school purchasing portal. This laptop will include access to all our school systems and the software your child needs to ensure a smooth transition into school life.
Further details on the specifics of this device and what the next steps are will be shared with families in Term 3, 2025. Please hold back from purchasing a laptop for your child until this information has been provided.
NOTE: Year 7’s will retain this device through years 8 and 9.
If you have a child in years Prep to Grade 6, you are not required to purchase books and stationery. The levy included in your fees covers the provision of text and workbooks. You will no longer need to prepare, name or cover books for your child. All students will arrive with a complete set of resources available to them on the first day. Stationery requirements will remain a part of this levy.
