Welcome to term 4!

Term 4 is always busy, with many exciting end-of-year events. Please keep an eye on the Flinders Connect App and the important dates listed below for your diary.

Congratulations to our Divisional Athletics team, which competed so well last Thursday. Nine athletes made it through to the regional competition.

Summer uniforms should be worn by all primary school students starting in week 3. Uniform regulations are found HERE.

Ready, Respect, Safe. These three words summarise behaviour expectations in our Primary School. When students need to be reminded of our rules in the classroom, we use remind, relocate and remove. We have excellent behaviour at Flinders and positive learning environments. Our consistent application of rules and consequences is found in the graphic below.

This term, we have the wonderful opportunity to partner with an incredible organisation - The Red Nose. Their mission is to be there for and help Australian families. They help save little lives through research and education, and support families affected by the death of a baby or child.

Every dollar their charity raises helps to fund research, support families and save little lives. It's a great chance for our families to have a ‘Spring clean’ at home and donate to a fantastic charity that assists children.

From Monday 21 October (Week 3) until Friday 8 November (Week 5), Flinders (Primary) will be collecting pre-loved clothing donations for The Red Nose. Grade 6 students will collect the bags each day from classes to store until the bags are collected by Red Nose. Each student who brings in a full bag of clothing will be given 100 points for their House.

If you require extra bags, please ask at the Primary office. Please note - clothing must be clean and in good condition.

The Parents and Friends are again selling icy poles for $1.00 to Primary Students on Fridays and on Thursday November 21, the day before the mid-term break.

Primary parents are encouraged to pay on the community portal for the term in advance, but weekly orders will still be collected. $8.00 will purchase weekly icy poles for the Term.

Payment can be made via the Flinders Connect App.

All Primary students that wish to purchase an icy pole and have not had their icy poles pre purchased on the portal are required to bring their money in a named envelope or bag on a Friday with the amount enclosed written on it. This will be collected from the classroom in the morning.

Dear Flinders Families,

At Flinders Christian Community College, we are introducing a new process to help students be on time to every class. This is essential for the following reasons:

Punctuality is a Key Life Skill: Being on time prepares students for future responsibilities.
Minimizing Disruptions: Late arrivals interrupt lessons and require teachers to repeat content, impacting everyone.
Maintaining Routine: Students who are late miss the important start-of-class routine that sets them up for success.
Maximizing Learning Time: Every minute counts, and late arrivals reduce valuable instructional time.

To help students adjust to this new process we will have a soft rollout next week with warnings instead of detentions. Consequences will begin from Monday 21 October.

We thank you for your support in encouraging punctuality. We will be monitoring and supporting students with individual needs who may need extra adjustments and assistance to follow this process.

Please find below details for our optional Swim Squad Program that runs annually in Terms 1 and 4 coached by elite swimmers. The purpose of the Flinders Swim Squad is to improve each student's competitive swimming performance at the Term 1 House Swimming Carnival in 2024 and to adequately prepare students for racing. Please note that this optional opportunity is not a learn to swim program, as students are expected to be able to swim competently for multiple laps of a 50m pool. The sessions will focus on preparing students for future competitions. There is a small cost of $70 for the sessions that is subsidised by the College.

When: Friday mornings on the; 1/11, 8/11, 15/11, 29/11 & 6/12

Time: 7:20am - 8:30am

Where: Pines Forest Aquatic Centre, Forest Drive, Frankston North

Transport: Families drop students off at the pool at 7:20am, College bus transports students to their respective campus.

Cost: $70.00 for the sessions.

Eligibility: Flinders Years 6-12 Students need to be capable of participating in a swim squad session (age appropriate). This is not designed for beginners, rather students to further improve their competitive swimming technique.

Year 7/8 (Junior) Division will be played on Wednesday lunchtimes

Year 9-11 (Senior) Division will be played on Monday lunchtimes

Teams MUST have 4 – 5 players, teams of 3 will not be accepted​. Teams can be single or mixed gender.

It is a first in, first served system as we can only have a limited number of teams.

There are prizes to be won!

Expressions of interest are now open for Yr 5-12 students to play in our after school netball program for Term 4.

Location & Time : The Frankston and District After School netball competition is held on a Friday Night. Matches times are approx 4:15pm, 4:50pm or 5:25pm at Jubilee Park in Frankston.

Cost: Approximate cost for term 4 is $85. **this is subject to fluctuate slightly based on how many rounds each team plays. Teams are created based on student year level.
